Ice Breaker Discussion

Q Overview Welcome to ENG 121—English Composition I! Throughout the course we will work collaboratively in discussions and peer reviews to build community and work through course material. In this discussion we will create community and begin our first steps in the writing process for our identity narrative essays by beginning to explore our identities. You should spend approximately 2 hours on this assignment. Instructions 1. In Module 1 we will begin to explore the theme of identity, which will carry throughout our course. In our first discussion, let’s build a community from our different identities by introducing ourselves and exploring what makes us who we are. Begin by offering a short, general introduction of yourself. Share with us a few things about yourself. This might include where you are from, what your family is like, what you like to do in your free time, or what field you want to study. 2. Next, let’s begin to think about identity groups to which we belong. Name at least five groups you belong to (think about gender, race, religion, community, cultures, and subcultures), and write a sentence about why each group is important to your identity. 3. Post one original post, and reply to at least two of your classmates. Try to further the discussion in your replies by asking thoughtful questions, adding interesting information, or connecting your reply to the material we are discussing. 4. Don't forget that your initial post is due by the date listed in the Course Schedule. Please post over several days. Points will be lost if you post on only one day of the module.

Hi Professor and my fellow classmates, My name is Ahmed Alsumri and I am originally from Saudi Arabia. I have been living in California for the past ten years now after my father switched his job. Most of my high school friends are Americans and I have seen how non-whites are treated in United States. I have done my major in English Literature and I am an avid reader. I have got a little personal library of my own where I spend some cozy moments with books.
